Presented for the first time at the ChΓ’teau de Rambouillet, Paroxysme is a filmic work by Isabelle Cornaro featuring sequences of images from different sources (16mm film, video, animation) relating to war, religion and seduction. On a large LED screen set up in the President's office of the Assembly apartment, these images are broadcast in a random montage controlled by an algorithm.

For each ten-minute broadcast, a new montage is generated, producing over time an infinite film on the theme of paroxysm. The abstract dimension of this piece, whose grammar plays with the randomness of algorithmic editing, brings it closer to the experiments of avant-garde cinema or scientific films, while recalling the fetishism of advertising.
